In this week’s video, Elizabeth explores the laws and dangers of duelling, prompted by January 1812 reports about a duel between Mr William Wellesley-Pole and Lord Kilworth. Mr Wellesley-Pole was courting Miss Catherine Tilney-Long, the richest commoner in Britain, and the newspapers were following every step either party made.
